Pain Management at Baptist Medical Group-Starkville Pain Management
Pain Relief with a Personal Touch
When you live with pain, you are not the only one who suffers — your family and loved ones do too. Baptist Medical Group-Starkville Pain Management helps adults across Starkville, Oktibbeha County and north Mississippi identify the source of their pain and find tailored ways to manage it.
Our goal is simple. We work with you to find the cause of your pain. If we cannot fully remedy it, we help you reduce its effect on your life so you can return to the activities and people that matter most. We pride ourselves on educating patients about their condition and treatment options, and helping you take an active role in your care.
Our pain management clinic brings together a board-certified pain management physician and a team of certified nurse practitioners who deliver one-on-one, comprehensive pain management care. Every provider takes time to understand your history, listen to your goals and build a treatment plan around your life.

Interventional pain management uses targeted procedures to treat and reduce pain at its source. Our specialists offer a full range of interventional treatments, most performed as outpatient procedures.
Epidural Steroid Injections
Caudal, lumbar and transforaminal injections deliver anti-inflammatory medication directly around irritated nerve roots in the back or neck, easing radiating pain that travels into the arms or legs.
Medial Branch Nerve Block
A short-acting injection that helps confirm which spinal facet joint is causing pain. Patients who respond well may benefit from radiofrequency neurotomy.
Radiofrequency Rhizotomy (Lumbar Radiofrequency Neurotomy)
A simple outpatient procedure performed under sedation that uses heat to interrupt pain signals from specific nerves. Results often last nine to fourteen months or longer.
Sacroiliac Joint Steroid Injection
Targets the small joints where the pelvis meets the spine. Helps confirm or rule out the joint as a source of low-back, buttock or leg pain while reducing inflammation.
Lumbar Sympathetic Block
Used when arm or leg pain comes from a malfunctioning sympathetic nervous system after an injury. Medicine is injected around the sympathetic nerves to interrupt the pain signal.
Stellate Ganglion Block
Performed under fluoroscopy at the base of the neck, this block helps diagnose and treat pain related to damage to the sympathetic nerve chain.
Spinal Cord Stimulator Implants
Often called a "pacemaker for pain," a spinal cord stimulator delivers gentle electrical pulses to the spinal cord, replacing the feeling of pain with a tingling sensation. We perform a trial period first; if you receive 50% or better pain relief, the team implants a long-term system.
Across these treatments, our team strives to help patients reduce pain levels, increase activity at home and work, learn new coping skills, sleep better and improve overall quality of life.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a key role in diagnosing back, neck and joint pain. An MRI scan can help identify herniated discs, arthritis, spinal stenosis, sports injuries and other conditions that drive chronic pain.
MRI services are provided through the radiology department at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oktibbeha County. Our clinic team schedules your MRI and sends the orders to the outpatient services department. Images and the radiologist's report come back digitally so your provider can review them before your next visit.
Pain management often works hand-in-hand with physical therapy. Our clinic collaborates with the rehabilitation services team at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oktibbeha County, who specialize in pain-focused therapy for conditions like low back pain, sports injuries, joint and soft tissue injuries, workplace injuries and repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
Each patient receives a customized therapy plan and one-on-one care from licensed therapists working closely with our pain management team.
Chronic pain care rarely ends with a single appointment. Your records live in Baptist OneCare MyChart, where you can message your provider, review notes from each visit, track your treatment plan and manage upcoming appointments. Referrals to related Baptist Memorial specialists — orthopedics, neurology, imaging, rehabilitation — can be coordinated without you retelling your story each time.
